Phantasy - Rachel Louise Brown
The book Phantasy was produced with photographer Rachel Louise Brown during her residency at international law firm Pinsent Masons LLP. It is a recording of the work she made during her year-long engagement with the firm. Brown invited employees to collaborate in the creation of unconventional portraits that involved an element of role play. Participation was not just confined to lawyers but involved a democratic and diverse group of employees.
The book was published by Pinsent Masons in a limited edition of 100 in 2014. It is designed by Christina Forman and includes an introduction by the chair of the art committee, David Isaac, a note on the residency by Maggie O’Regan and an essay by the artist titled Every Single Phantasy is the Fulfilment of a Wish, a quote from Freud's Creative Writers and Day Dreaming, 1908.
As art consultants, InSitu devise and manage long term art programmes that include artist residencies. Residencies have the dual purpose of providing a platform for an artist to create new work while engaging in creative exchange - stimulating creative thinking among participants through workshops, artist talks, exhibitions and related cultural events.
