Rory Waudby-Tolley
Following his graduation from the Royal College of Art, award winning filmmaker Rory Waudby-Tolley made Art for Lawyers, a 9-minute animated documentary, collaborating with the employees of Pinsent Masons in a democratic, cross-firm engagement as part of his residency. The film grew from a series of conversations and workshops conducted over a year and features interviews and drawings made with employees. In addition, Waudby-Tolley curated a screening of films by contemporary filmmakers/animators as part of the premiere, to present an overview of the medium. Art for Lawyers was included in several international animation festivals, winning Best British Film Audience Vote at LIAF (London International Animation Festival) screened at the Barbican. The film explores the question ‘What is Art?’ stimulating discussion among employees and in some cases inspiring them to look more closely at their own creative abilities.
